Colon hydrotherapy - a healthy lifestyle. Is Colon Hydrotherapy for me There is a number of ways you can ask this question. It could be that you are just feeling low and want something that is going to pull you out of the doldrums. Or you may have an ongoing medical condition and you are looking for an alternative treatment to deal with the problem. It might be you have read somewhere that Colonic Hydrotherapy has benefits in health and wellbeing and you are interested in giving it a try.

Whichever way you come to the question, it’s a valid route. Before you decide anything, you should first discuss your details with one of our colon therapists who will be able to give you the correct advice.

What happens and what makes a colonic so special We understand that you might be a little nervous or even apprehensive on your first visit to the clinic, so we start by asking you a few questions about your health and lifestyle.

This enables the therapist to build a case history which will be referred to over the course of treatments. The therapist will then explain the procedures and answer any concerns or reservations you may have about colon hydrotherapy.

There is no special requirement by you before the first session, but if you have followed a colon cleansing programme this could increase the results.

The session lasts for about 45 minutes. During this time filtered warm water will be introduced to the colon whilst the therapist massages or uses other techniques to stimulate the release of matter. This is a sophisticated and discreet procedure and you will find that your dignity is preserved at every stage.

What is the Colon? The colon is also known as the large intestine and is part of your digestive system, connecting the small intestines to the rectum.

Everything you eat, after initial chewing in the mouth, goes down the oesophagus; a tube connecting your mouth to the stomach, where it receives further processing.

Then it passes in turn through the small intestine about 5.25 meters long and the colon (large intestine) of approximately 1.5 meter long, before being expelled as waste through the rectum and anus.

The process of chewing and of the stomach is only to prepare food for absorption, but the actual absorption of nutrients happens only in the small intestine and the colon.

The colon serves a dual purpose; firstly it’s a very sophisticated food processor passing nourishment into the bloodstream. Secondly, it excretes toxic body waste material to protect ourselves from damage.

Blocking of the colon can cause a ballooning effect, giving potential for yet more problems in the peristaltic action, hindering the progress of nutrients through the wall of the colon and impacting faeces, which then can become a breeding ground for parasites. The result is that the body is not receiving the nutrients it needs but instead receives toxins it doesn’t want.

These toxins are often contributed to many forms of cancers almost anywhere in the body, disease of the liver and kidney, spleen enlargement, gall-bladder, gallstones, tooth decay and gum infections, heart muscles weakened and fatty degeneration, muscular rheumatism and general degeneration and wasting.

Basically, once poisons start to be retained in the colon they will be disseminated into every other part of the body via the bloodstream and lymphatic system. Once this happens, the colon cannot heal itself.

Throughout history colonic hydrotherapy has been used to deal with:
Stress and mental disorders
An unbalanced or poor diet
Alcohol and drugs
Allergies’, caused by additives used to grow food
Modern lifestyles
Environmental pollution
Lack of exercise
Obesity

Most food should pass right through our digestive system in 24 hours; it is important that it does because any still hanging around will start to decay. The average time now for men in the UK is 60 hours and for women 70 hours.

What can Colon Hydrotherapy do for me? There is a wide range of conditions that colon hydrotherapy can assist with and most people don’t realise what they are.

Below are just some of the obvious ailments that are related to the stomach, intestines and bowel.

Arthritis, Bloating, Candida, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Duodenal, gastric or stomach ulcers, Enteritis, Irritable bowel syndrome and Food cravings.

However, colon problems are not limited to the stomach, intestinal and bowel area. The colon is in fact the single most important part of your body and has a direct relationship to the state of your health.

Because it is the physical and metaphorical centre of your bodily universe, it affects every part of you including:- hair, skin, muscles, blood, joints, organs and mental health.

Keeping your colon free from contamination, means harmful bacteria can’t interfere with your natural intestinal flora and the generation of valuable nutrients. Research seems to indicate that the colon is home to as much as 80% of immune tissue. Your immune system is absolutely vital.

Prevention is always better than cure and colon hydrotherapy is generally seen as having a big effect on your quality of life and wellbeing.

Will I benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy If you are interested in keeping yourself in good condition for either business or personal reasons, colon hydrotherapy has been recognised for improving health, strength, alertness, fitness and beauty.

Sports people have reported greater resistance to muscle fatigue because of the removal of toxins and waste products leaving their tissue clean and healthier.

Names such as Princess Diana, Kim Bassinger, Goldie Hawn, Demi Morre and Sacha Vaughan have seen the benefits of colon hydrotherapy. Regular colonics are essential to keeping skin, eyes, teeth, hair and general body tone looking its healthiest. They even help keep the effects of ageing at bay.

Slimmers find that an unhealthy colon can actually cause weight gain problems because the body finds it difficult to get the necessary nutrients through the clogged up colon wall. A session of colonics may in some cases remove between five and twenty pounds of waste and will give that all important start to a weight loss programme. If you are overweight or suffer from allergies, it could be a lot more.
